Register Below for Labor Day Weekend:
Far Horizons has been open each year for 65 years, thanks to the volunteers and dedicated workers through out this time. We wish to celebrate the HISTORY that surrounds beautiful and beloved Far Horizons Camp. It is our desire to share this rich history with everyone, and all are invited.
Kurt Leland is preparing a Power Point presentation of some of the history of Far Horizons. Ruth (Hull) Laemmlen will give some oral history as well as individuals will give their personal memories of their adventures at Far Horizons Camp. We will enjoy stories; see old slides and pictures of Camp; have campfires with “som-mores” and old time songs; even skits, and special offering from you participants. Of course, the afternoons are for exploring the wonderful National Parks right around Far Horizons Camp; even swimming in Hume Lake, some 14 miles away.
Kurt Leland is a National Lecturer for the Theosophical Society in America. he is also an award-winning composer and the author of several books dealing with subjects such as astral projection, near-death experiences, and mystical experiences associated with music. He has recently published Rainbow Body; A History of the Western Chakra System from Blavatsky to Brennan (2016) and Otherwhere: A Field Guide for Astral Travelers (2019). An internationally known expert on the life and writings of theosophical leaders and clairvoyants Annie Besant and Charles W. Leadbeater, Mr. Leland has also compiled and annotated Invisible Worlds: Annie Besant on Psychic and Spiritual Development (2013) and an authoritative edition of Leadbeater’s classic, The Chakras (2013)
Ruth (Hull) Laemmlen is the daughter of Mary and G.V. Hull who dreamed up and built most of the buildings at Far Horizons Camp. She is a retired school teacher, and full time supporter of Far Horizons, being the Historian for Camp since 1979. She has preserved the history in the form of photo albums, taking most of the photographs. Please take a few minutes to look at some of the 13 albums at Camp.
